Welcome to SARDA Wales, we are a specialist Search Dog component of Mountain Rescue (England and Wales) and are permanently staffed by unpaid volunteer Dog Handlers and their dogs to provide a search and rescue service to the Police, Mountain Rescue & Coastguard. We train air scenting and trailing dogs to search for missing people in mountain, rural and urban locations. We have 80-90 call outs each year in North Wales including missing children, vulnerable adults, dementia patients and hill walkers & mountaineers. We are on call 365 days per year in any weather.

Train a Dog
We are always pleased to hear from prospective handlers. New handlers generally have a search and rescue background but this is not essential. If you would like to learn more about how we train our dogs or about becoming a trainee handler click here
Who we are
We are volunteers who love dogs and are united by a willingness to go out in any weather at any time of day to search for missing people anywhere in North Wales and occasionally beyond. Many SARDA Wales handlers are also members of Mountain Rescue teams.
We are always keen to hear from people that would like to join us either as trainee handlers, dogs bodies or support volunteers. You can read more about how we train our dogs and info on becoming a handler here and info on helping as a body here.
Weare all unpaid volunteers and rely entirely on donations to fund SARDA Wales. You can support us in any of the following ways:
