February Training Weekend

What a weekend! Our training weekend took us to Rhyd Ddu, in the heart of Snowdonia for a packed couple of days.

Our Air Scenting Search Dogs worked some areas in the Llanberis Pass, with our Trainee Search Dog ‘Ben’ and Handler Alex successfully passing their pre-assessment and moving forward to their assessment next month. Well Done! Our Graded Dogs ‘Scout’ and ‘Indi’ also trained, but their Handlers who are members of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were called away to a serious incident on Snowdon. Our thoughts are with the family of the victim.

It was also Trainee Search Dog ‘Gwyl’s first time at official training, where they commenced their journey to become a graded Air Scenting Dog Team

Our Trailing Dogs headed off to Borth Y Gest, where Trainee Search Dog ‘Ginger’ worked several difficult trails along the coast and the beach. Search Dog ‘Izzy’ rejoined training after a period of being poorly, and worked well across Borth Y Gest beach to locate Chris hidden amongst the reeds.

Old hand Search Dog ‘Boris’ and Handler Steve showed the young handlers how it was done, working a couple of trails, and Search Dog ‘Skye’ also finishing the weekend off with a difficult trail through Rhyd Ddu forest.

Last but not least, Trainee Search Dog ‘Sion’ was put to the test and successfully passed a number of stages allowing him to progress to more difficult stages of training.

Well done all!

As always, a special mention to our bodies who lie out in wait for our Dogs and Handlers (and provide the best photos!) Thank You!
